Discover Mantrailing

Mantrailing is an exciting sport that harnesses your dog’s natural scenting abilities to follow human trails. It is a fantastic activity for mental stimulation, confidence building, and strengthening your bond with your Manchester Terrier.

What is Mantrailing?

Mantrailing is a scent-based activity where dogs learn to track a specific person’s scent over various terrains. Unlike traditional tracking, where dogs follow ground scent, mantrailing relies on the dog’s ability to follow airborne scent particles.

Natural scenting ability

Perfect for a breed with strong hunting instincts, the fact that they are ground scenters as opposed to air scenters is a great benefit too.

Great for all ages

Suitable for young pups once fully vaccinated, active adults, and older dogs.

Builds confidence

Excellent for nervous dogs needing a focus-driven task.

Low-impact exercise

A great alternative to high-impact activities.

Getting Started

Mantrailing requires minimal equipment – a dog, a harness, a long line, and high-value treats or a favourite toy for rewards. Training is progressive and fun, with dogs quickly learning to enjoy the game.

If you are looking to try mantrailing word of mouth is a great way to find an instructor. Alternatively, an online search will show any instructors locally or you can use the find an instructor option on the websites below, Other organisations do exist these are just a starting point.
